Practice Schedule - 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
Alternate each day practicing Rhythm or Technique.
Whole Notes, Half Notes, Quarter Notes, Eighth Notes.
Warmup - 5 minutes dancing rhythms with Bizet's Carmen. Utilize flashcards as visual cues for switching dance moves.
Hopping - Whole Notes
Giant Steps - Half Notes
Marching - Quarter Notes
5 minutes Rhythmic Composition with Flashcards
Create four flashcards for each note value in the dance warmup exercise (4x whole, 4x half, 4x quarter) and lay them out on the table however you'd like to arrange them and tap out the composition with your sticks.
5 minutes - watch first four minutes of this YouTube video (day 1 watch video) and practice the exercise with left and right hands for five minutes days after. Exercise is C, D, E, F, G, F, E, D, C (up and down 5 notes).
5 minutes - Use the same good technique you practiced in the YouTube lesson applied to Ode to Joy and Mary Had a Little Lamb.
